To blog or not to blog that is my question

Happy late St. Valentine's day! So much has been going on the past few months. But finally I feel like I can once again start up my blog. I know I haven't posted in a while but is a thing of the past. So here is what i have been up to! For one I am trying to get my scrapbook corner organized. If things aren't just right I feel like I can't function. So with that said, I have invested in the scraprack. You can find it here. Because my space is very small I need something that is functional, and I need to SEE what I have. Having things in boxes, and baskets doesn't work for me. So hopefully this will be the start of a new scrapping beginning for me. I have not received my scraprack yet (arrives on 2/22). But I have started organizing using Tiffany Spalding's organization methods. She even has a Facebook Group, and does weekly webinar's. I have completed the paper challenge, the ink and marker challenge, and I have almost completed the embellishment challenge. I have about 1 inch of paper that I have managed to purge, not to mention at least 1 lb of eyelets, brads and other small embellishments. Next thing i am tackling is my sticker collection.

In between organizing i have also managed to make a cute birthday gift for my friend Luz. I used Laura Denison's wonderful pattern for the Baby Steps album. I will post pictures tomorrow of my completed album without pictures.

So that's what I have been up to! Hope everyone is having a great new year and a wonderful February.

For the last couple of days all my free time has been dedicated to getting my scrappy space neat and organized. I wanted to share what my space looked like before and what my new space (Clean slate) looked like before i started moving my stuff in. I have not gone into each individual category, i.e. pattern paper, cardstock, ribbon etc. but had to move everything into this room because of lack of space and because my old area is being turned into a closet for our winter coats and other things we need to store. The building we live in was built in the early 1900's so the lack of closets are a huge issue.

Mission Organization!

So, Here i am once again starting an organization challenge that Wookiemouse (which is a goddess in my eyes for creating this) created. And the challenge has been started by Crisann over at the twopeas site. You can find the thread HERE! So as some of the other pea members have done and i think it make sense, I will be posting my progress on my blog.

Week 1 of this challenge is the space audit. Basically you have to create a layout and take notice of how your stuff is stored and how hard or easy it is to use your stash. Honestly i am working in a clean slate, because i am moving my stuff to a new section of my house. Right now my stuff is stored in a 5x5 alcove in a hallway. I am moving it to a 12x4 alcove in my bedroom which will also give me a little more space because my bedroom is huge and i will be able to include other pieces of furniture that are currently scattered around the apartment because of space issues.

So here is my space audit

- photos : No This is a big problem area.
I have about 30 years of pictures that are printed some even have doubles and triples. They are not sorted in anyway. They are stuffed into a cropper hopper photo box and a couple other boxes that i purchased at AC Moores.

Digital pictures are also a mess. They are not saved in anyway specific i have 3 computers and they all have pictures. I also have about 3 years worth of pictures on a hard drive.

- journaling : yes and no.
I mostly hand write my journaling. I would like to change that a bit cause sometimes i cant read what i write.
When i have scraps of cardstock in between projects i usually cut out little note cards or top note cards with my cricut. I store them in a pencil holder box.

- title : yes.
I mostly use thickers or alpha stickers unless i am going for something specific and then i will use my cricut and SCAL

About pens and markers! Mostly use my markers for journaling. Gel pens RARELY get used.

- embellishments :I have LOTS of embellishments would like to find a way to have them more visible so i can use them more often.

- Stamps : I mostly own Clear stamps and they are stored in a zip up binder.

- Inks : Dont have too many of these so this is pretty good

- others : paint, mists, perfect pearls... I have a plastic basket with all my acrylic paints and my mists and pearls are in a drawer in one of those Ikea ALEX drawer cabinets

- Glue : All the wet ones are kept together in a small plastic basket together and then my atg and my pop up glue dots are all in a drawer

- Cardstocks : a disaster

Scraps are an even bigger disaster.

- Patterned papers : Also a mess

- Albums : okay not too bad. I am not a chronological scrapper so i just make layouts and put them in one of those plastic 12x12 boxes until the box is full and then i put them in albums. Each of my kids has an album and we have a family album.

-tools are not an issue.

- Magazines : Not an issue i dont keep too many of them and after a year i start to cut out pages of things i like and put them in a magazine holder. Eventually i would like to transport those pages into a binder

- Scraproom : Doesnt exsist. I have an alcove in my bedroom and right now its a clean slate. So i want to plan it out perfectly before buying anything. I have a 8 cubby Expedite from ikea and the Alex 6 drawer cabinet. I will have to buy shelves since my floor space is limited.

I am also buying a desk or 2. I have 115 inches of space for desk space. I do have to share this space with our second computer. So my plan is to make 2 work stations one for me and my mac and an area to scrap. and then a smaller area for the 2nd computer which mostly my husband uses.

So these are my problem areas. I am sure i will think of a few more and will post about them.

I will post pictures in a later post. I have to take them first!

As you all should know by now i'm horrible with this thing called blogging. But i promise now that life has settled down a bit I am going to commit to posting a couple of times a week. I am currently in the process of unpacking my scrappy stuff and redesigning my scrap space. I am following an organization challenge on the 2peas site that WookieMouse started up a couple of years ago. Its AMAZING. You can find the thread for the challenge HERE. I had almost completed it earlier this year but had to move so now basically i lost my scrapbook room and have to start over again. My scrappy space will be an alcove in my bedroom. I have to be creative because i will be sharing the space with my hubby and the space is not very large. I will post pictures of the space later today. So to end this post i will add a layout i completed this weekend using a pagemaps sketch.

I used one of my favorite lines of Girl Friday by cosmo cricket. I purchased 2 kits and i have used this line over and over again and still LOVE IT!

My name is Beatriz and when i put my name into the search bar of Ebay i was scared. I used the Item number:300510133645 which is a book named Paradise in Ashes by Beatriz Manz.. I liked the layout it was simple and that is what inspired me.

This is the LO i created for day 1 of Load 2/11.

My kids Andrew and Kelly during the Band Trip to South Carolina. This picture inspired me because of the bright colors and the happiness in there faces!

i used pattern paper from the K & Co. Urban Rhapsody paper stack. The paper flowers are from scraps from the same paperline. Stickers are left overs from a very old kit.

Because storm i had very limited DSL connectivity and could not upload last night. Our phone lines were on and off most of yesterday and today. Now our lights are flickering too.

Update on my terminally ill neighbor.

For those of you that did not see my post about my neighbor let me give you some details. My neighbor was diagnosed with Terminal brain cancer after leading a pretty normal life. He was rushed to the hospital after his employer found him unresponsive on the floor. That night he fell into a coma and his wife was basically told that he would probably not make it through the weekend. On Christmas Eve to everyone's surprise he was discharged and sent home with a wheel chair.
With a week he had managed to start walking with a cane.

fast forward to today....

I have had a couple people ask me for an update on my Downstairs neighbor. For those of you who asked he is home and going to his Radiation treatments and also has Chemo daily for the 6 weeks then he will take a break for 4 weeks and then continue the chemo for 6 months, 7 days a week. He is also having a physical therapist come to the home 3 times a week he has limited feeling in his left arm and is slowly walking with a cane. I spoke to his wife today and Dr's told them that the tumor is growing quickly and told her that he has 16 weeks to live. Drs told them he has the same brain cancer that Ted Kennedy had but the tumor is much larger.

Please keep the Namjoo family in your prayers. My heart breaks for his children, ages 4 and 18 months, i have had the pleasure of taking care of them this week and will be caring for them from now on while there mother works and they are so sweet and just beautiful. Thanks for keeping them in your prayers.

Organization thursdays

So today is Thursday and i figured i would try and post something to with Organization every Thursday. It will be either something that I use or something i found on the internet that i want. (i must add i want everything i see)

Today's Post will be about my Ribbon organization.

I have a plastic wall mounted coat rack with 9 hooks. I have owned it for a few years so i have no idea how much i spent on it.

I used the Ribbon Storage System found Here for the bundle of ribbons on the left. But then i started thinking about it and figured i needed a cheaper alternative for my ribbon storage. So i came up with my own Ribbon Storage and spent $8.49 for 1000 paper clips and 2 inch rings are $3.79 for 9 rings. The Rack i already owned so it did not cost me anything but i guess you can find one for under 10 bucks and probably a lot nicer then this one.

I threaded the ribbon through the paperclips and then used the binder clips to keep them all together.

I like the fact that they are easily accessible and i can see them at all times. I have PLENTY of room to expand, and they kind of look nice just hanging there.

My word for 2011

Ali Edwards and many people in the scrapbooking world pick one little word to sum up what you want for yourself for that year. In my case that would be 2011.

A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.

Last fall in issue two of this newsletter I wrote about the power of words and gave my top ten tips for getting those words down when you are scrapbooking. Today I want to introduce you to the idea that a single word can be a catalyst for enriching your life as well as your scrapbook layouts.

So for 2011 MY little word is FOCUS! But i think i am going to also have a second word. I think both words when used together will get me to where i want to be quicker. My second word is Eliminate!

FOCUS and ELIMINATE! What a great combo don't you think?

There are so many things going on in my life right now.. Lots of great things, and a few that i would rather forget. I need to Focus on all the good in my life and eliminate the bad. Focus on my family, focus on my plan of action for 2011. I also have to focus on my love for my craft. I know that i can accomplish so much but because of reasons that i would rather not talk about, or not at liberty to talk about at this time 2010 made me lose focus on many things. Therefore most of the reasons for that have been ELIMINATED.

So here is how is my plan. This is what i am going to focus on for 2011.

MYSELF. I need to get healthy. If i don't, then i wont be able to focus on anything else. Eliminate some weight, bad food choices, laziness, depression, and negativity
MY FAMILY. My kids and my husband. that is my family, those are who need my full focus. Eliminate people in my life and my families life that bring negativity, drama, or heartache in our lives.
I am only going to FOCUS on the things that directly affect me or my family. Eliminate those that wish to bring us down or to have false pretenses for there own gain.
Work on my career. It has been on the back burner for a couple of years now. I am going to focus on that too. Eliminate my fears of failure, and other negative feelings i may have surrounding me.
Focus on getting my blog active and making it a place for others to possibly get ideas or learn something new, Maybe find that link to a recipe you have been searching for. Focus on getting more followers. My Goal is to reach 100 followers by the end of the year.

So hear you have it. These are my goals for 2011. I know its almost the middle of the month but i wanted to have a well thought out plan, something that in March i know i would be able to still stick by. Notice i said Eliminate some weight. I didn't say Lose 10 lbs or 20 lbs. I know that in order to lose weight you have to be realistic. In the past i have said "I wan't to lose xx amount of weight" and guess what, it does not happen. I usually end up gaining the weight instead of losing it. NO MORE! Time to FOCUS on whats important in my life and ELIMINATE whats not!

Mission Organization

So i am on a mission to get organized. At the Cherryontop messageboards one of the ladies has started an organization challenge.

Challenge 1 is to post pictures of your scrap space. So i figured i would add my pictures to my blog too!

I had already started organizing and hopefully next weekend i can go out and buy some shelves for the wall where my desk is. my room is about 6.9 feet x 7.5 feet. so its pretty hard to get pictures in there.

Countdown to Christmas!

Oh boy its almost that time of year again. So since we moved this year to a new home and all our decorations were stolen (long story) I figured i would start a new project. I made a paper flower wreath using WWW.SVGCUTS.COM 3d paper flowers file. I obviously used the wintergreen flower files since those are the flowers for this season.

I mainly used Bazzill and American Crafts Cardstock and for adhesive i used Scotch's quick dry glue and some pop dots for the poinsettia's and holy. TO adhere it down to my wreath, which i bought at A.C. Moore i used my trusty hot glue gun.

and then here are a couple of close ups.

Also on my to do list are Christmas Cards, and a couple of other deocrations, maybe even a merry christmas banner for my fireplace. hmmm so much to do and so little time.

To all our service men and women, Thank you for your sacrifices. Without them we would not be the Land of the Free. May God Bless each and everyone of you past, present and future.

So this past weekend i completed 4 layouts during A Cherry On Top's Weekend Fall Crop. I love these online crops because the challenges help me think outside the box. The first Layout I created i titled CUZ. The two girls are my daughter Kelly and her little cousin Dalila. The Challenge was to use Sassafras las products. Although i love Sassafras las i did not have anything on hand other then a scrap of paper about 2.5 x 3 inches big and 1/2 a pack of cardstock stickers. So i figured lets get with it.

Sorry that its a bit fuzzy. My camera decided it was going to go for a swim in my purse where a full bottle of gatorade happened to spill (Long story) So i had to use my son's crappy hp camera.

The Next layout I created I LOVED doing. Challenge 5 was to use the sketch they provided and the word "Time" in the title.

The third layout was for challenge 3 and the rules were that you had to private message another person, introduce yourself and then ask them what their favorite color is. Then you had to create a Layout using that color. The person that i pm'ed told me her favorite color was purple.
you also had to use bling and Alpha's in the layout.
So i whipped up a pagemaps sketch and created this layoutI will post the rest of the layouts at a later time. (Hopefully tomorrow)

I have been working on 80 invitations for one of my daughters friend's sweet sixteen i will hopefully have a picture tomorrow to upload too.

I completed this card for a challenge on my dear friend Christine' Blog.This is the first challenge on her blog and i could not stay away... Check out Christine's blog @ http://serenityinhim.blogspot.com/.

I used AC cardstock in white for my base, the striped paper is from the My Minds Eye Bella Bella paper stack the embossing folder used is from the tim holtz line, and the stamp used on the tag is prima marketing.

The challenge is to create a card using some kind of embellishment you purchased over a month ago but have yet to use. We all have purchased something we "had to have" then watched it for a week then two, meaning to use it but just somehow can't.

Your creation must be a card that measures 6X6 and please describe what this "must have" item was and why you "NEEDED" to have it. I will be giving away a small gift as a token of my appreciation for you all joining me on my 1st Serenity blog Challenge.

My must have are actually 2 things. The orange flowers are Prima's Cameo Roses Poppyfield and have been sitting on my desk for over 2 months. The second item you really cant see that good but are Ranger Perfect pearls in the Blue Patina color. After watching a tutorial that Christine sent me i realized that i have had these perfect pearls in a drawer for about 4 years. I never knew what to do with them but i knew i just had to have them. So as the tutorial said i put about 3 pinches of the pearls powder into one of my little ranger spritz bottles and made my own spritz.

sure cuts alot vs. Cricut Design studio

So i bought the Provo Craft Gypsy a few weeks ago and I'm slowly learning how to use it. But now comes my next purchase/question? Should i buy Design studio or Sure cuts alot?

I really like the versatility of the Sure cuts alot program. Being able to cut things without the cartridge seems to me like a win win. but then i wonder if provo will eventually have a program similar to scal. I am very close to making my decision and really would like to know if any of you use either program? I have used the trial version of DS but never have tried the SCAL. Let me know what you all think!

i made this card for the cricutz cardz challenge #16.

I used Gypsy Wanderings for the sentiment and butterfly, and used accent essentials for the flowers. Flowers were cut in different sizes. I used American Crafts cardstock, stickles in purple and orange peel, the gem brads are from oriental trading and the pink poka dot brad is from queen & co. the little blue brad is from the target $1 section.

It's been a very busy few weeks. I really have had little time to post or even create. But i wanted to add this layouts that I did have the opportunity to make.

The first layout i created is for the June Digi Swap. (yes i was a little late) But i was very happy with the finished layout. I used Backyard Fun by Julie Bullock available at Acherryontop.com.

The second layout is about the Jonas Brothers Concert that My Daughter Kelly, Niece Serenity and I attended . It was Serenity's first concert ever. We all had a blast. The beautiful Kit i used is from The Jeanelle Paige line and the name of the kit is The Sweet Digi Doodle bundle.

I am so excited! Well first of all my baby girl Graduates from 8th grade tomorrow! Yes, can you believe it? She will be a freshman in September! I think im going to be a mess tomorrow! Actually, I know i am going to be a mess tomorrow!

Also i am now a creative team member for Jeanelle Paige!!! YAY!!! She has AMAZING Stuff at www.acherryontop.com! Since my Guest CT spot is almost up next week, it feels great to have yet another reason to scrap! I also applied for the Digi CT member for ACOT lets see what comes out of it!

So much going on in the next couple of weeks! Kaydens Baptism is July 12 and we have my mom and my brother flying in for that. My mom will stay for probably a month or so! But my brother will only stay for the weekend!

I am glad my mom is coming. I have missed her!

In the next day or so i will update my blog with some new pictures!

New Developments!

Well i didn't win that beautiful Scrapdesk from The Original Scrapbox site but Me and 25 other people did make it to 3rd place and i won a scrapmabob. Yes thats what its called. Cant wait to Set it up on my desk.

So you ask what i have been up to. Well funny you should ask! LOL I am teaching myself how to Make Kits digitally.

Its harder then i thought but i think once i get the hang of it it should be a piece of cake! Can't wait!

I was also chosen to be June's Guest Digi Design Team member at the Best Scrapbooking store in the world a cherry on top!

So far its been a blast. Really makes me use my noggin!

I am all healed from both my surgeries (in case you didn't know i had my appendix removed in April then i had my gall bladder removed during Memorial Weekend)

So now im ready to lose some weight! YAY!!! I am investing in the Wii Active today and really am hyped to get started.

Hope you all have a great week and remainder of June. Its a very busy month for me. Between school ending and Birthday parties and Kelly's 8th grade graduation. But looking forward to summer vacation even though we really won't be going anywhere!

I just found out i won a Ipod nano chromatic from Magistical Memories! I can't believe it! I got the email a couple of hours ago and i was a bit hesitant because i had totally forgotten that i had entered this contest! So i checked the magistical memories blog and IT all came back to me real quick... I can't wait to get it!!!!

I have been a very busy girl. Just started working again at the Salon on Saturdays only, for now, and i have been scrapping like a mad woman this month.. i will post some LO's tomorrow.

recovery has been good after my emergency appendectomy. Its been 9 days after the surgery and im feeling much better. I have done very little paper creations but i have been racking up on the Digi LO's. (much more comfortable to lounge on the couch then to sit upright at a table)

Its been a while since i have been here! I know bad me! :( Its been a rough month. Well what can i tell you We are having just beautiful weather. Mid 70's this week. (very strange in Fl) but you got to enjoy it while you can. I have been a bit lazy the past few weeks and really haven't been working on anything. I do have lots of projects floating around my head and a couple that should of been done already but i just haven't been motivated. I cleaned off my desk and i am going to get started on my New Nephew Kayden's scrapbook. And yes i am going to be an AUNT again. My brother's wife is due in December. I Want to do a 1st year book for this baby but since they arent going to find out the sex i guess it will have to be done all in neutral colors. Oh well. Hopefully i will post some stuff up this weekend that i will be working on :0)

This Sunday we went to one of the local beaches. Just wanted to share the pictures... I now carry a new skin color... its called. Lobster Red... LOL you would think that after living here almost 1 year i wouldnt get sunburned even with sunblock. Who knew.

Well, its been a somewhat strange week. I feel like the week has dragged by. I have not accomplished much this week. Hoping that this coming week will be more productive. I am working on a few Layouts and other little projects for my CTMH portfolio. ( i guess that would be a good word for it) . They sent me so many beautiful papers to work with in my kit. I absolutely Love them. Hopefully when i have a few more things done i will post them here. In the meantime you could check out my CTMH website and you will find a couple of things under My Art.

Hopefully this Sunday we will take a trip to the beach so i can work on some new little techniques i learned with the camera.

Well i guess we will have to see if that is right. So far its been 3 days i think?

Well lets see, My daughter won tickets to see the Jonas Brothers off of the radio station. Shockingly enough my husband was telling her "oh honey dont get your hopes up do you know how hard it is to get through and actaully win?" and as he is finishing his sentence She gets through and was able to answer the questions the DJ had for her. Can you believe it? So We picked up the tickets on monday and they are good seats except like any 12 year old she is upset that they werent Floor seats. The concert is Friday and Im so not excited. To have to sit around thousands of screaming, crying Girls. It should be very interesting. I will Post pictures.

Well i have read and watched everything about CTMH. And i think im ready. I will hopefully have my Website up and running by the weekend. I doubt i will be making any money on this since i just about want everything in the catalog. LOL. So far there is very little that i dont want. Everything from Papers, to Stamps, to embellishments, to Storage stuff. (i am a big storage buff). I will somehow have to show some restraint since i convinced my husband that this was the business that i wanted and knew i could make work. LOL little did he know that one of the reasons i wanted to get into it was because of the consultant discount. :) sneaky, I know.

Well its official! I am officially a Close To My Heart Consultant. My kit came yesterday afternoon. The poor UPS guy must think i am nuts. I didn't even give him a chance to knock on the door. I opened it up and spread it all out on the floor in front of me with such happiness you would of thought i have a million dollars spread out in its place. So today i am off to read and watch DVD's about my new business venture. Hopefully i will have my website up and running in the next couple of days.

You probably ask why CTMH? Well the reason why is because i absolutely love there products. There stamps are one of a kind. And there paper is all high quality stuff. My decision to join was my idea. I wasn't at a party, There was no one there to push me sign. This is my story. Back in August of 2007 i went to a crop about 6 hours from my house. Where i met a bunch of wonderful women. All excellent crafters. I had one of the best weekends of my life. At this crop 1 of the ladies is a CTMH consultant. I had never stamped before this day and Nancy was so sweet and showed me how stamping worked. Well, Nancy created a monster. I know am hooked. I don't use stamping as often as i would like because i have been out purchasing stamps so that when I'm ready to stamp i have everything i need. Thats when i remembered CTMH and did some research online and decided why not sign on. So I did it. I signed on and got my kit. Maybe a bit impulsive. But I'm sure i can thrive. I was a sales person for a few years for a company that i didn't believe in and thrived. Can you imagine selling a product/brand that you do believe in? I almost cant wait to begin.

Well i am off to read and of course make room for my new stuff. I want to create an area in my crop room just for CTMH. I will eventually post pictures. :)

Didn't think my blog was still up since i had neglected it for so long. Anyhoo. For all of you reading it. (which i think we are up to about 3 people). I just signed on to the Close to my Heart banwagon. Im so excited. I absolutely love there product. In NJ i had never heard of them but once i got to Florida instantly i met to gals that were consulting. and after a few months of Thinking about it and purchasing stuff i decided to Go for it. I will post my website as soon as it is up and running (probably by the end of the week). I will also be posting some pictures as soon as i get the Kids to sleep. (hopefully soon) . I have made a whole bunch of LO's and also a couple of other little crafty items. Now i will be starting the Mother's day Gifts for the Mom's of the kids i take care of. I have a few things in mind but i still don't have anything concrete.

Well lets see what has been going on. Nothing new. I am waiting for my youngest sister to give birth. She is due just about any day now. Doctors say its a BOY!!!... She has an older son named Damian who is 4. He cant wait for his new baby brother to show up! He is constantly looking out the window to see when the big brown truck brings his new baby brother. Too cute!
My kids have half a day tomorrow and then they are off until Wednesday. GRRRR just when i was starting to enjoy the peace and quiet. well i am going to try and figure out how to add some pictures of some of the work i have done recently so here goes nothing!!!

This page i made for a challenge on a website. The rules where Everything had to be black and white and then embellishments had to be all one color. I chose Red Because i think it stands out soo beautifully. The baby is my best friends son Genesis. He was 2 months old in this picture.

This is a Pocket book that i made in a Scrap-a-Faire class. I made if for my mother in law and sent it to her with pictures of the kids and of our new surroundings since she still hasn't visited us since we moved down south.

I think this is good for now i just want to see how it posts and later on i will post a whole bunch of pages i have completed in the past couple of days... I have been a very busy bee!!!

New Year new ME!

I have decided since it is a new year and a new me i will start this blogging thing! So bare with me while i figure it all out. I will use this space to show off (hehehe) all my completed pages and other projects that i have been working on. I have moved my studio around, AGAIN. something i do almost monthly. Until i figure out what is most functional for me. I will also post pictures of that mess. Feel free to let me know what you all think. Sometimes life sends you some curve balls, sometimes they feel like they are curve bowling balls but somehow you have to figure out how to get past them and better your world. That is what im trying to do. Figure out how to get passed them.
